After Padmaavat, Shoot Of Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj Disrupted By Karni Sena; ‘We Want A Written Assurance’
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2018 historical film Padmaavat starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor had been embroiled in controversy after the Karni Sena had protested against the film over its historic facts, and had reportedly halted the shooting of Padmaavat in Rajasthan. Now, something similar took place with Akshay Kumar starrer Prithviraj, as Karni Sena reportedly disrupted the shoot of Prithviraj in Jaipur and demanded a written assurance that there will be no tampering with historic facts in the film.

It was on Akshay Kumar’s birthday that he had announced his next project- Prithviraj. In the film, Akshay Kumar will be seen playing the titular role of the 12th-century Indian king from the Chahamana (Chauhan) dynasty- Prithviraj Chauhan. Fans of the actor have been very excited about the film ever since it was announced. Now, according to news agency PTI, members of the Karni Sena, with its national president Mahipal Singh Makrana, staged a stir at the shoot of the film in Jaipur on Saturday. The Karni Sena asked the director of the film Chandra Prakash to halt the shooting.

While the director assured them that there would be no tampering with the historic facts, the Karni Sena demanded a written assurance. PTI reports that on Monday, Mahipal Singh Makrana said, “We held discussions with the director, Chandra Prakash, regarding the film's script today. We told him that no tampering with historic facts will be tolerated. Prithviraj Chauhan should not be portrayed as a lover in the film. The director has assured us that there is no such thing in the movie but we want a written assurance.”

Akshay Kumar was not shooting at the time this happened. Prithviraj is being produced by Yashraj Films, and stars Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar. The film is scheduled to release in 2020.
